I did watch Ray Allen play for UCONN back when I was in high school, and I was excited there was a name in professional basketball that I didn’t learn from a commercial or a scandal. Then they started having an amazing season, and I jumped on the bandwagon as quickly as I could. Paul Peirce is my cousin and KG and I have been playing Mario Kart on Saturday afternoons since SNES. Having those deep relationships with the players only made me more excited for the victory in the Championship.

As an extremely amateur basketball player, I started with no concept of the rules other than there was a 3 point line, and shots past that line are harder to make and worth some larger amount of points. I play with other novices and we have no idea what we are doing. We travel, double-dribble, and fouling is our only defense. I know there’s a difference between the street game and the pro game, but I don’t know what they are, and frankly I don’t think we can handle more rules than the one about turning over the ball when it goes out of bounds.

Having watched several playoff games, I think I’ve gotten a better feel for how things should work. Translating that to the court is another thing. I can say this: I can definitely appreciate how difficult professional basketball can be. I don’t think I can go 30 seconds without cursing like a sailor or slapping an opponent. Do any of my world-wide readers want to be our coach? If we’re ever going to win a Championship like my cuz, we’re going to need one.

First off, let me fully disclose that I hopped on the Celtics bandwagon.
