Vote! 1

The tagline of this blog is “Tales of IT, Telecom, and life in Boston” but I occasionally talk about politics and myself, two things which I often don’t think go together. This will hopefully be the last such post for at least a little bit, but it’s hard right now.

My personal feelings are generally that I think politics are hurting the country and we should focus on working together to solve problems, but that’s a ridiculous utopian ideal. I’m not really sure how we can remove a lot of politicking from the system, and I think you can best describe me as an “intellectual revolutionary.” It’s ridiculous and usually I know it.

So, now being one of those times that I know it, I want to remind anyone else out there like me that you should vote. Increasing the voter turnout regardless of who you vote for is the first step towards showing that the people care about the democracy. It’s true that the election system is moderately broken, but the best argument for not putting resources into fixing it is saying that no one cares because voter turnout is so low.

In my opinion, fixing the democracy is the first step to fixing the country; the rest of the issues will get figured out when we can have free and open discussions amongst voters and leaders. So, vote.
